Your Phone Actually uses a slow cpu processor(than it needs) to work with. So Make your cell response faster you need to REDUCE the load on your cell(processor). Your phone uses themes, effects and even has some background applications running...so to get in turn with them you should have to deal with some things-
First thing- you have to make sure you dont have any foreground apps are running[foreground apps are those apps which you see are running...for eg. by holding the menu key you can see the foreground apps which are running],
Second thing you need to close the background apps...which you cannot close directly-so for this you'll need a software named RAMblow

What RAMblow does is it closes off the Background apps(except the homescreen and menu-which cannot be closed).
If still the phone is laggy to handle you need to turn effect and use a theme which uses low ram of ur phone. To check which theme uses less and which one uses more you can use handy task manager by the trial and error method.(please rate)
